From writing to performing, music is a huge part of my life and art
I compose for the screen, for commercials, with and for other artists. I also write songs that I perform myself, with my band Telegram, as my old-school country alter-ego Troy Dean, or as my hip-hop/trap doppelgänger Lil’ Dutch Boi. Yeah …
I guess I’m what you’d call a musical polyglot: working across multiple genres, instrumentations and soundscapes. The variety keeps life interesting, scratches my endless writer’s itch, and provides me the opportunity to wed the music to visuals. Some of the music I write is terribly sentimental and reaches back to traditions I grew up with. Some of the music defies easy categorization and seeks to illuminate something more intangible. All in: I’ve had the pleasure of working with a lot of really amazing folks, and have had a handful of other artists cover my tunes over the years.
